It’s Different When You’re On Vacation

I arrange tours for a living.  So it’s natural to assume that I’m well-traveled.  Bukidnon, Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Davao City, Davao del Sur, Cebu, Bohol, Palawan, Manila, Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Iloilo, Dumaguete, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Los Banos, La Union, Vigan, Baguio, General Santos, Koronadal, South Cotabato, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Bulacan, Clark Airbase, Subic Naval Base, Olongapo, Zamboanga del Norte..

Everywhere I go, I make it a point to get information about the hotel/resort/destination.  Flyers, brochures, contact information.  It’s easy when I go there because of work (i.e. on tour with guests or on official business for chamber activities and tour guide conventions), because then my mind is sharp and I pick up tips and tricks instantly.

But when I’m with family, it’s different.  It’s like my brain goes on vacation as well and all I want to do is enjoy the moment.

Which was frustrating this season because we went to all new places this time — Hidden Island Resort in Bucas Grande, Romatic Resort in Siargao, Taal View Heights in Talisay (Batangas), Sebay Resort in San Juan (La Union), Prince Plaza Condotel in Makati.  I had to be reminded to ask for information before we departed.  =P

The next series of blogs are all about our Philippine tour this last Christmas vacation.  Half was part-work/part-play while the other half was part-play/part-trying to catch up on sleep.  I hope I can write down everything that happened and I hope you enjoy my story.
