I know, I know, a kazillion blogs have been posted about the issue of Piolo Pascual being gay. And a kazillion people probably believe that he IS gay, because why would he break up with the “perfect woman” KC Concepcion? Ehem.. to me, that’s not surprising, but then again, my opinion of Ms. Concepcion is not the topic for today.
Why am I bringing this up again, when the gossip has all but died down? That’s what you think! Yesterday I had lunch with a couple of female friends and we were talking about this gay friend of ours.. how he seemed more handsome that ever in the new year. And someone mentioned Piolo Pascual. Now I don’t want to go into detail what exactly was said during the conversation, just that this topic has definitely NOT died down.. It has just moved out of national media and into the streets.
Some of you know that I’ve met Piolo Pascual — ate with him, joked with him and even visited him at his home in QC. Some of you also know that for a month in 2008, my husband and I provided transportation and catering services and even coordinated for the cast, staff and crew of Star Cinema, as they taped scenes in Bukidnon for the movie LOVE ME AGAIN (released in 2009), where Mr. Pascual played the lead role (Migo) alongside Ms. Angel Locsin (Arah).
During the 30-some days we were together, I have to honestly say that Mr. Pascual did not manifest signs of being gay. In fact, he was always surrounded by his adoring female fans, some of whom had come all the way from Manila just to watch him during taping. It was only towards the end of the month, also, that I’d remembered the gossip of his being gay when a male admirer arrived (having allegedly cancelled all his appointments and traveled 8 hours just to meet him).
But then again, I am not one to listen to or even believe gossip as everyone knows it is mostly rumor than fact. The man I had observed everyday back then may or may not even be the same man they are talking about today. And, well, 2008 was a long time ago, so I am not updated.
However, I stick to my impression of Mr. Piolo Pascual being straight. Whether it was a fake one (shown only in public) or real, I may never know, but because it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get to know a famous actor, I cherish the memories.

Disclaimer: Mr. Piolo Pascual did not commission me to write this piece. I am not a fan of Mr. Pascual — and he knows it, too, because I told him so in 2008. I don’t think he remembers me or reads this blog. This is just me airing out the cobwebs in my head.
P.S. One of my friends told me my defense comes too late, because Piolo himself has come out and admitted to it. Well, true or not, he is a human being and we should respect his privacy.
